Wildwood Guilds

A new way to collaborate, share resources, and produce work sustainably.

  • The Wildwood Theatre is constantly striving to expand and sustain its mission - and we know you are too. However, there is an oversaturation of theatre companies with social justice missions in the Twin Cities.

Currently, hundreds of small to medium-sized theatre companies in the Twin Cities are either stagnating in their growth or struggling to produce theatre sustainably. This is not their fault, as the current model for producing theatre is broken and desperately needs innovation.

By coming together and sharing each others resources, and talent we all possess, we can exponentially increase the impact of our missions.

  • The Wildwood Guilds are the long-term goal of The Wildwood Theatre: to unite all the smaller to medium-sized mission driven theatre companies in the Twin Cities under one umbrella. These companies would retain their name and mission, adopt The Wildwood Theatre's high standards for conduct, pool resources, share social circles, join under one season, cross promote, and more!

  • No! We welcome any other creators who wish to become a Guild. Do you run a podcast, radio show, Instagram, etc. that you think would be a good fit? We would love to have you.

  • In fact, it has. A lot of groups really struggle to maintain a project of this caliber for many reasons. One of the primary reasons is human power. The difference with the Guilds is the built in Guild Council. This is the group of Guild leaders who will be in charge of shaping and changing how the Guilds function and grow. Basically, through Guild membership, you have a vote - much like a co-op!

 Guild Benefits

Participation

By centralizing marketing efforts under the Wildwood, our collective reach expands significantly.

This leads to greater attendance and participation to your productions or events.

Season Expansion

All guilds would be able cross promote and centralize their productions and events under one season. This is beneficial as audiences would be given the option to purchase a flex pass to attend a robust and varied season. Rather than having multiple communications from different companies which can be overwhelming to patrons all the while leaving other groups buried by other companies.

Audiences would also be able to choose which guilds they would prefer to see more or less of when receiving Guild specific communications.

Governance

Guilds will be be allowed to sit on various councils within the Wildwood. With this oversight, members will have transparency and be given opportunities to contribute to various decisions: budget, marketing, programming, staffing, etc

A “Guild” Council that consists of designated members from each Guild will be able to participate in the governance of the Wildwood and its Guild program, make decisions of how to expand and improve etc. Everyone will have a voice.

Resource Sharing

One of the biggest challenges that smaller companies face is a lack of resources and human power. As the Wildwood Guild phases progress, more and more of our resources will begin to merge. Grant writing, finances, donor lists, audience/ donor lists, marketing, websites, and more.

Fiscal Sponsorship

The Wildwood Theater also offers Fiscal Sponsorship for those who do not have 501(c)3 status. This is a great option for those who would like to have the benefits of accepting donations for your work, but dont have the capacity to manage a non-profit or who intend to eventually become an independant 501(c)3. By choosing a fiscal sponsorship, your project secures the ability to solicit tax-deductible donations, apply for grants, host fundraisers/events, etc.
